AmpliPHIed Graphics + Design is an independent, freelance graphic design handle established by myself, Arthur B. Hill, II at Howard University in 2011. Beginning as a small venture to supply the university campus with quality promotional material, the AmpliPHIed brand has since expanded to servicing clients across the United States and abroad.

While developing the AmpliPHIed brand, I've definitely went through my share of logos. More recently, I've finally settled on a visual identify that I think
works for me. From jump street, I kept three ideas in mind. I wanted to always be creative in my efforts by making every clients project unique. I wanted to
be insightful, internalizing the nature and motivational forces associated with each project. Lastly, I wanted to be meticulous, giving each project it's due
time and attention. Adhering to these motifs would make for a more involved and personal experience that I believe potential clients can gravitate toward.
My primary logo, the "Penrose Triangle", represents both insight and detail, tied together by the energy of creativity. Understanding the principles of the object itself gives credence to the power of innovation. It furthers the message that something that we believed was impossible can be made possible if it
is approached from the right perspective. I find it immensely empowering.

In the fall of 2010, I pledged the Zeta Iota Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha (ΦΜΑ) Sinfonia Fraternity of America, Inc. Part of our function as a collegiate organization is to host events on our campus, for which we would need fliers! I had pretty much always been into drawing and art, but I didn't really know how to do that.

So, I jumped on the learning curve! I didn't know anything about any graphics software or anything like that, but what I DID have was the always reliable, old faithful, MS Word. Needless to say,
this didn't last long. Word was dope, but I just needed to upgrade to something better suited for graphic production.
*Enter Adobe Photoshop.* This changed everything. In the next couple of years, I spent a lot of time learning this program, as well as others. I did this on an old Dell Inspiron 1501. It's no longer with us. RIP Dell. No more pain... ful blue screens of death.

When I felt comfortable with my skill level, I began accepting jobs making fliers around campus for the low. Eventually, I was hired by Howard as a student designer for modest pay. Then, I started getting calls and emails from people in other places for work!

And that was it! I decided on a name, developed paperwork, a logo I liked
and set forth to create a presence in
the world of graphic arts. I admit, I
didn't really put a lot of thought into
the logistics and intricacies to start,
but through trial and error, I think I've established something cool.

It was through this process that this brand was created! I'm truly proud of how far it's come and so excited to see where it goes! I'm constantly striving to learn, absorb and utilize new methods and strategies to make AmpliPHIed
an even better graphics provider,
